Vintage Dresden Plate Variation Quilt - 61x74

Sorry, this item has sold.

It's hard to know the exact pattern for this style quilt, but it was a popular design and I can see why! It's made of over 1,080 pieces of fabric is many assorted colors and prints!! This vibrant quilt is paired up with a beautiful blue batik backing fabric and is heavily quilted with pebbles on the background and a petal flower on each sunburst. The Circles are appliqued and each block measures 14.5 inches. As with many of the vintage quilt tops I find, this is such a unique quilt. The light pink background fabric has a subtle raised line through it and it was carefully placed so that all the lines would be going in the same direction. Obviously much care was taken in the construction of the top. Measures 61x74 inches (154.94cm x 187.96cm).

I'm guessing this quilt was made in the 50's or 60's given some of the fabrics I find. The Dresden Plate quilt pattern was one of the most popular quilts made during the 1920s and 30s. It was first published in the 20s. However it was not always under the name Dresden Plate. Friendship Ring, Aster, Grandmother's Sunburst, Dahlia and Sunflower are some other names for this style.

STORY OF VINTAGE RESCUE QUILTS
Following my love of Vintage Quilts and Quilt History, I find and source unfinished vintage quilt tops from various places. I then make any repairs needed to the quilt top, including mending loose seams, replacing disintegrated fabrics, and attending to stains that may be treated. I then pair the quilt with a modern fabric backing and batting and quilt it using my longarm quilting machine. I use no computers on my longarm and everything is done manually by hand. In the end, these unfinished quilts from long ago are transformed into quilts that are totally amazing, stunning, and, well, beautiful! Sometimes I'm so struck by a quilt's transformation! It is an honor to bring these beauties into the future and finally give them the ability to be used and loved!
