Vintage Red Spider Web String Quilt - Twin Size or Throw 64 x 89

$320.00

This vibrant vintage rescue quilt is a dazzling example of the Spider Web (or Cobweb) String Quilt pattern, made from hundreds of colorful cotton scraps sewn into kaleidoscopic webs. Set against a rich, radiant red background in varying tones, it’s a bold and beautiful piece of quilt history.

PLEASE NOTE: It's in excellent vintage condition overall, but there is one area of visible age-related staining and another spot that seems to be glue which is about the size of a nickle (shown in photos). Priced accordingly.

The quilt top was well-preserved when I discovered it and has now been finished with a soft batting and a lovely gray printed backing that complements the vivid front. It quilted up beautifully, with the texture adding depth and dimension to the intricate design.

Whether you're a collector, a lover of vintage textiles, or simply looking for a one-of-a-kind piece with history and heart, this quilt is a beautiful find that’s ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

The Story of My Vintage Rescue Quilts

Driven by a deep love for vintage quilts and quilt history, I seek out unfinished quilt tops from decades past—often tucked away in attics, closets, or forgotten fabric stashes. These tops, many dating back to the 1930s and 1940s, are full of potential and stories waiting to be completed.

Each quilt top undergoes thoughtful restoration. I carefully mend loose seams, replace any disintegrated fabrics with era-appropriate materials, and treat stains when possible. Once the top is ready, I pair it with a high-quality modern batting and a carefully chosen fabric backing—often something that enhances the vintage aesthetic without overwhelming it.

All quilting is done manually on my longarm quilting machine—no computers, no automation—just hands, heart, and experience guiding every stitch.

This quilt is not only cozy and functional—it’s a celebration of traditional scrap quilting, color play, and resourcefulness. The variety of prints and the spider web layout make it a dynamic and eye-catching piece, whether draped over a bed, used as a throw, or hung as textile art.

The result is a true transformation: a once-forgotten piece of textile history is brought back to life, ready to be used, loved, and admired for years to come. Every finished quilt feels like a small miracle, and it's an honor to help give these beauties the future they’ve always deserved.
