Here's a really well preserved Crazy Quilt with lots of lovely indigos and reds. The quilt top is from the early 1900's, and when I found it it was in remarkably good shape for it's age. I made a few minor repairs to the top and paired it with a lovely complementary modern print fabric for the backing (see in the last photo). I've given it an edge to edge swirl design that adds a lot of wonderful texture and movement to the quilt. It is safe to machine wash and dry (with care following instructions... basically in cold water with no harsh detergents or bleach). I've already washed and air dried this quilt.
This quilt has a spectacular variety of fabrics and is composed of nearly 400 pieces and a nice assortment of colors. Those spots of RED! It measures approximately 64.5 x 76.5 inches. I could not find any noticeable stains with a thorough search, but as with all vintage quilts there may be tiny spots here and there which I did not catch.
A piece of American history and heritage, it truly is a work of art.

STORY OF VINTAGE RESCUE QUILTS
Following my love of Vintage Quilts and Quilt History, I find and source unfinished vintage quilt tops from various sources. I then make any repairs needed to the quilt top, including mending loose seams, replacing disintegrated fabrics, and attending to stains that may be treated. I then pair the quilt with a modern fabric backing and batting and quilt it using my longarm quilting machine. I use no computers on my longarm and everything is done manually. In the end, these unfinished quilts from long ago are transformed into quilts that are totally amazing, stunning, and well, beautiful! Sometimes I'm so struck by a quilt's transformation! It is an honor to bring these beauties into the future and finally give them the ability to be used and loved!
