This Vintage Quilt throw is spectacular! It's paired with a dark indigo batik backing to add a bit of a modern twist to the Quilt top (see last photo). This is such a unique quilt with a variety of blocks to add a bit of controlled chaos to the scene. When I look at this quilt I think of Piet Mondrian and his Broadway Boogie-Woogie painting from 1943. It's obvious that the maker was using up some fabrics of mixed origins, like shirtings and calicos, but the variety gives this quilt a lot of depth. There are the tiniest little half square triangles mixed in. There is such a lot to discover in this quilt.
Measures approximately 60 x 69 inches, with the border being a little wonky.
It's made using over 1000 pieces of fabric, was hand pieced and fitted together in some kind of jazz improvisation. It's really fun. and I love the yellows scattered about.
I purchased this quilt top recently. It did require a few repairs but not many considering its age (I think it's from the 40's considering the fabrics included). It was very worth the effort given just how pretty it is.
It deserved to be brought back to it's glory and completed so that it can be loved, used, and cherished.

STORY OF VINTAGE RESCUE QUILTS
Following my love of Vintage Quilts and Quilt History, I find and source unfinished vintage quilt tops from various places. I then make any repairs needed to the quilt top, including mending loose seams, replacing disintegrated fabrics, and attending to stains that may be treated. I then pair the quilt with a modern fabric backing and batting and quilt it using my longarm quilting machine. I use no computers on my longarm and everything is done manually by hand. In the end, these unfinished quilts from long ago are transformed into quilts that are totally amazing, stunning, and, well, beautiful! Sometimes I'm so struck by a quilt's transformation! It is an honor to bring these beauties into the future and finally give them the ability to be used and loved!
