This Botanical inspired Project Bag is unique, there is only one, and I cannot make another, so it's truly one-of-a-kind. The vintage applique blocks were in an unfinished state, so I finished them up, embroidering some little details, and then quilting the front and back panels by hand in a Sashiko or Kantha Style.
With the help of a expert gardener friend, we identified each specimen.
We have Chestnut, Eastern Redbud, Black Locust, and American Sweetgum varieties.
The inside and bottom are lined and the batting used is Quilter's Dream Deluxe Weight Cotton Batting, so it has some structure, yet it is still soft. The handles and outside bottom are Sashiko stitched with a Babylock Sashiko machine!
Measurements:
7 inches high, and 11.5 inches to top of handle
13.5 inches wide, and it opens up wide to hold a small knitting project
The Handles are 2 inches wide
If you ever need to wash it, do it in a lingerie bag on cold and very gentle cycle. Don't go too mental washing it as the blocks are vintage and while they are pretty stable I wouldn't go bananas and wash it all the time. Wash with a nice organic laundry soap (don't use Tide or any of that stuff) and do not dry clean. Let it air dry.
