(Be sure to read the entire description!!) This Vintage Melon Slices Quilt is bananas! I absolutely couldn't walk away from the quilt top when I discovered it and it is still impressing me with its quirky wonderfulness. Just look at it! This thing just keeps shining!
If you don't know Melon Slices, then you should know that they are basically sections of a Wedding Ring patchwork that stand alone. This particular quilt top was all handsewn and the Slices were hand appliqued onto the blocks with an almost Sashiko look to the basting. I didn't remove the basting because of that fact and they are just so perfect! You can see it in the photos around the edges of each slice.
The Quilt measures 59.75 x 65.5 inches, and each block measures around 12x16 inches and the melon slices are around 7x14.
PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER: I've washed this quilt three times on cold because the red blocks bleed a bit. There will still be bleeding on subsequent washings (the dye comes out a little and runs), and with that in mind this quilt absolutely needs to be washed on cold, separately, or with like colors and care needs to be taken when storing with other items. The running hasn't ruined the quilt at all, but with this fact in mind I'm pricing this quilt accordingly. I'd like to cover my costs and materials so it's a special price!

STORY OF VINTAGE RESCUE QUILTS
Following my love of Vintage Quilts and Quilt History, I find and source unfinished vintage quilt tops from various places. I then make any repairs needed to the quilt top, including mending loose seams, replacing disintegrated fabrics, and attending to stains that may be treated. I then pair the quilt with a modern fabric backing and batting and quilt it using my longarm quilting machine. I use no computers on my longarm and everything is done manually by hand. In the end, these unfinished quilts from long ago are transformed into quilts that are totally amazing, stunning, and, well, beautiful! Sometimes I'm so struck by a quilt's transformation! It is an honor to bring these beauties into the future and finally give them the ability to be used and loved!
